Employer: Spring Valley Farms, LLP Job Title: Animal Scientist – Swine Production (Multiple Openings) Job Location: 28494 U.S. Highway 59, Morris, MN 56267 (Stevens County) JOB DUTIES: Responsible for animal husbandry and herd health care for swine production operation. Specific duties include: (1) identifying and treating sick pigs by administering proper medication and maintaining treatment records; (2) identifying and euthanizing hogs with no prospect for recovery; (3) maintaining bio-security to protect herd against disease; (4) adjusting ventilation controllers to maintain air quality for hog comfort; (5) selecting and preparing hogs for market; (6) maintaining site equipment and buildings and testing emergency back-up and alarm systems; (7) maintaining herd supplies and medicine; and (8) training new workers on pig safety and production practices. REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science, Veterinary Medicine, Agricultural Engineering, or related, and one year of livestock production experience, including specific experience administering medication and keeping treatment records.
