Salary/Grade: EXS/6

Job Summary:

This position is responsible for graphic design and production on selected print and multimedia marketing materials of the Kellogg School of Management. The Graphic Designer will work closely with Associate Director of Design and Senior Designer to ensure executions are on strategy and brand.

Please note: Some weekend and evening hours as needed.

Specific Responsibilities:
  • Working closely with Associate Director and/or Senior Designer on design and production of all assigned projects according to the creative brief, on time and within budget.
  • Propose and create original design solutions that meet the brand’s needs based on the parameters as specified in the creative brief.
  • Ensure design solutions meet defined goals in the creative brief
  • Determine the highest standards of typographical treatment; image selection; choice of color palette; form factors and interface of printed assets or digital solution
  • Communicate with the team about your design ideas and choices as well as project progress and status
  • Work in conjunction with project team to set and maintain production schedule
  • Seek and analyze competitive bids from vendors
  • Prepare files, spec sheets or design requirement documents for printer or developer
  • Review printer’s proofs or prototypes to ensure that final product will match electronic files submitted to print vendor or developer
  • On digital projects, ensure design solutions follow the established web components and follow web specifications provided
  • Ensure continuity of print and digital design solutions to create/support consistency throughout all brand communications
  • Collaborate with UX and Analytics experts to understand research and determine the right solutions in the digital space
  • Work with team members to perform testing and conduct QA of developed prototypes prior to launching sites
  • Create short animation for emails, social and/or video
  • Collaboration with a Photo Editor, Associate Director of Design and/or Creative Director to select photography and illustrations.
  • Keep current on image trends, photographers, and illustrators
  • Ability to create or manipulate images in design or imaging software to visualize image concepts, styles, or ideas

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, art or related field or equivalent professional experience
  • Three years of professional experience in graphic design environment

Minimum Competencies: (Skills, knowledge, and abilities.)
  • Fluent in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Xd, After Effects) on Mac platform
  • Ability to work well under tight deadline schedules
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills
  • Works well in teams and independently
  • Accepts direction and design critiques in collaborative design group
  • Ability to make sound judgments
  • High attention to detail
  • Good conceptual graphic design as shown in professional portfolio
  • Good understanding of typography, color, image, and layout to create engaging designs
  • Versatile knowledge of designing for web and print

Preferred Qualifications:
  • At least three years of professional experience in graphic design environment such as a professional design firm, in-house creative group, or agency

Preferred Competencies: (Skills, knowledge, and abilities)
  • Basic knowledge of technical aspects of digital platforms, such as web, mobile and social media in order to collaborate with technical teams to produce digital solutions
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Word and PowerPoint
