Job Description:
<div>The School of Art and Design (SoAD) at East Carolina University seeks a nine-month, tenure-track Assistant Professor to teach in the School of Art and Design's Animation/Interactive Design (A/ID) concentration within the BFA in Art. ECU has a wonderfully diverse student body population, and the School of Art and Design is committed to reflecting that diversity in its staff and faculty.&nbsp;<br><br></div><div>The School offers expansive studio areas that foster experimentation and collaboration that enriches students' studio practices. Students in the Animation/Interactive Design program use a full range of technology, media, tools, and techniques to realize their artistic vision. The curriculum is designed to foster students’ creativity and innovation while developing strong technical competency to prepare them for professional and fine art practice.<br><br>Animation/Interactive design is growing and seeks a colleague to contribute to the expanding needs of the concentration. Teaching areas may include First-Year Shared Experience courses, beginning to senior level A/ID courses, 2D/3D Animation, 3D modeling, 3D character rigging, game asset design, processing, and generative art-making. In addition to teaching, full-time faculty advance their scholarship and practice, mentor students, engage with other faculty, participate in departmental activities, and contribute to curricular development.</div><div><br></div><div>The successful candidate will teach 3 three-credit courses per semester in the A/ID area, which may include the theory and practice of interactive design, 2D animation, 3D modeling/animation, and game design/advanced learning technologies. Collaborations with graphic design, illustration, film, and other faculty within the School of Art and Design are encouraged.<br><br>Additional responsibilities include:<br>·&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Research and/or creative activities appropriate to the position &nbsp;</div><div>·&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Collaborating with area faculty on curriculum development&nbsp;</div><div>·&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Service to the concentration, the School, College, University, and the profession&nbsp;</div><div>·&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Participate in promoting and recruiting students for the School of Art and Design<br><br>&nbsp;Contingent on availability of funds.&nbsp;</div>

Minimum Qualifications:
<div>The School of Art and Design seeks a candidate with expertise and a terminal degree in the area of Animation/Interactive Design, Game Design, or related field. All qualifying degrees should be from appropriately accredited institutions. Candidate should also have evidence of success in research and/or creative activity.&nbsp;</div>
